Apprenticeship Program Manager

The Society of Heritage Carpentry Trades is hiring an Apprenticeship Program Manager to place new carpenters with member restoration shops and keep the Society's apprenticeship pipeline growing.

The Society represents 1,200 restoration carpenters and heritage-carpentry shops from a 5-person staff in Providence. Executive Director Caspar Lindahl has made the apprenticeship pipeline the Society's main growth strategy, matching newcomers to a trade with an aging workforce to member shops that need them. This role runs that pipeline day to day and reports directly to Lindahl.

• Recruit apprenticeship candidates through trade schools, community colleges and member referrals

• Match candidates to member restoration shops based on location and specialty

• Track apprentice hours and competencies against the Society's certification standards

• Organize quarterly skill-building workshops for apprentices and their shop mentors

• Maintain relationships with the 40-plus shops currently hosting apprentices

• Report pipeline metrics (applications, placements, completions) to Lindahl and the board

• Represent the Society at trade-school career fairs and heritage-preservation conferences

• 3+ years running an apprenticeship, workforce-development or trade-training program

• Familiarity with skilled-trades certification standards or a willingness to learn them quickly

• Comfort visiting job sites and talking with shop owners and their crews

• Strong organizational skills for tracking dozens of apprentices across different timelines

• A valid driver's license for regular shop visits around New England
