CEO Search Member Town Hall

Any member who wants to understand how NANA is running the search for its next chief executive should register. Vice Chair Dominic Ferrante, who chairs the CEO Search Committee, and Board Chair Margaret Oyelaran will walk through the process the committee has followed since Walter Abernathy announced in June 2026 that he will retire on June 30, 2028.

The committee — Ferrante, Oyelaran, Treasurer Haruko Tanaka, Director Yolanda Pruitt-Ames and Great Lakes chapter chair Priya Ranganathan — has met privately through 2026 and into 2027 without a search firm. This town hall is the first time the full membership will hear from the committee directly.

Ferrante will describe the committee's timeline: a successor is expected to be named in November 2027, with an overlap period beginning in April 2028 before Abernathy's departure that June. Oyelaran will cover what the board is looking for in a successor and how member input has shaped the position profile.

No candidate names will be discussed at any point in this session. The committee has said consistently that it will not confirm or comment on individual candidates until a final selection is made, and this town hall will not change that.

Members will be able to submit questions in advance through the registration form, and a moderated Q&A will follow the committee's remarks. Questions about the timeline, the selection criteria, and how the transition will affect member-facing programs are all in scope; questions asking the committee to name or rule out specific candidates will not be answered on air.

The town hall is free and open to all members. It will be recorded and posted for members who cannot attend live. Members who cannot attend live may submit questions in advance through the same registration form, and Ferrante has said the committee will address as many submitted questions as time allows during the recorded session.
