Government Affairs Manager

You will carry the association's postal-rate and federal-grant advocacy for 48 commercial fishing co-ops on the Chesapeake Bay. The job is 30 hours a week, reporting to Executive Director Obadiah Fenwick, and covers both Annapolis-based state work and periodic trips to Washington.

The association represents 48 commercial fishing co-ops on the Chesapeake Bay, with a three-person staff based in Annapolis. It carries a postal-rate and federal-grant advocacy file on behalf of co-ops whose bulk mailings and federal fisheries grants are central to their operating budgets.

• Track federal postal-rate rulemakings and file comments on the co-ops' behalf

• Monitor federal grant programs relevant to Bay fisheries and co-op infrastructure

• Draft position statements and member alerts on pending legislation and rules

• Coordinate with Executive Director Obadiah Fenwick on testimony and agency meetings

• Represent the association at Maryland and Virginia legislative briefings

• Maintain relationships with congressional and agency staff covering fisheries and postal policy

• Prepare quarterly advocacy updates for the co-op board

• 3+ years in government relations, association advocacy or legislative staff work

• Experience tracking federal rulemaking and comment processes

• Strong writing for position statements and member-facing updates

• Comfort working part-time hours with periodic Washington travel

• Familiarity with fisheries, agriculture or postal policy is a plus

• Pro-rated health stipend
