About Society of Volunteer Fire Company Officers
The Society represents 5,600 officers of volunteer fire companies from a 9-person staff in Frederick. Members serve part-time alongside full-time jobs, and membership rises and falls with the health of the volunteer fire service itself, which makes recruitment as much a part of this role as renewal.
What you'll do
Own the annual renewal calendar and the recruitment pipeline for new officers
Manage a team of two membership coordinators
Analyze renewal and recruitment data and report trends to the executive director
Build relationships with state volunteer fire associations that refer new members
Oversee the membership database and dues billing system
Develop retention campaigns targeted at officers approaching non-renewal
Represent the Society at state fire-service conferences and trainings
What you bring
5+ years in membership management, with at least 2 in a leadership role
Experience managing a membership database and dues-billing process
Comfort presenting renewal and recruitment data to an executive director and board
Familiarity with the volunteer fire service or a willingness to learn its structure quickly
A track record of hitting renewal-rate or recruitment targets in a prior role
