Conference Production Coordinator

You will run production logistics for the annual conference of a 1,100-member society representing production managers in regional theater. This is a contract role tied to the conference cycle, working out of the society's five-person Chicago office.

The society represents 1,100 production managers working in regional theater. Its five-person staff is based in Chicago and runs an annual conference that draws production managers from theaters across the country to compare notes on scheduling, budgeting and crew management.

• Manage production logistics for the annual conference, including load-in, load-out and technical rehearsals for demonstration sessions

• Coordinate with venue technical staff on equipment, staging and crew scheduling

• Build the conference run-of-show and distribute it to speakers and session leads

• Track the production budget against the conference's overall event budget

• Recruit and brief volunteer crew for on-site production support

• Troubleshoot technical issues during live sessions

• Debrief with the society's five-person staff after the conference to document lessons for the next cycle

• 3+ years in live-event or theatrical production management

• Experience building and running a conference or event run-of-show

• Comfort managing volunteer crew on-site

• Budget-tracking experience for production line items

• Availability for the full conference week, including load-in and load-out days

• Contract rate paid in two installments (pre-conference planning, post-conference wrap)
