Advocacy Day 2027

Any member with a stake in federal policy should register for the Mid-Atlantic chapter's Advocacy Day, held April 14, 2027, at NANA's Washington conference center, not only staff with a government-relations title. Director of Public Policy Simone Radcliffe will open with the spring's active policy files, and Senior Policy Manager Farah Qureshi-Lindgren will lead message training on the two issues NANA is pressing this year: the proposed rule that would count grassroots "call to action" emails as lobbying contacts, and a proposed 10% cap on indirect costs for nonprofit grantees.

Qureshi-Lindgren, who leads NANA's lobbying-disclosure file and joined the policy team in 2022 from a Hill committee staff job, will brief attendees on what the proposed lobbying-disclosure rule would mean for associations that rely on member email alerts to generate constituent contacts. Meetings run in two blocks, grouped by state delegation, with a working-lunch debrief between them.

Cobbleridge Broadcast will again record the morning briefing for members who can't travel to Washington. Delegations will collect follow-up questions from committee staff at an afternoon report-back roundtable for the policy team to track.

Bring business cards and a one-page summary of your association for any Hill staffer you meet; NANA's policy team can help delegations prepare this in advance. Comfortable shoes are recommended — most delegations walk between House and Senate office buildings over the course of the day.

The conference center sits ten minutes from Reagan National by Metro, with shuttle buses running between the venue and Capitol Hill throughout the day. Delegation meetings are scheduled by the policy team in the weeks before the event; register early so your association can be placed on a delegation with meetings already confirmed. The day closes with a reception at 3:00 p.m.
