Advocacy Day 2028

The Mid-Atlantic chapter will host Advocacy Day 2028, NANA's annual member trip to Capitol Hill. Director of Public Policy Simone Radcliffe will open the morning with a briefing on that year's active policy priorities, then hand off to scheduled meetings with congressional staff.

Executive directors, general counsel, and government-relations staff at any member association, not only those based in the Washington, DC area. No prior Hill experience is required — registrants receive a briefing on what to bring and how meetings are scheduled before the day begins, and first-time attendees are grouped with a returning member for their scheduled meetings.

A morning briefing on NANA's active policy priorities, a block of small-group meetings with congressional staff scheduled in advance by home state and district, and an afternoon debrief on what members heard on the Hill. The policy team compiles member feedback from the debrief into a summary shared with the board at its next quarterly meeting, so a member's Hill conversation can shape NANA's own advocacy calendar going forward.

The day opens at the NANA National Conference Center, ten minutes from Reagan National (DCA) via Metro, before members travel to the Hill for scheduled meetings. Registration is free for members; the non-member rate is $125. Members traveling from outside the DC area should plan to arrive the evening before, since the morning briefing begins at 8:00 a.m., and Cobbleridge Broadcast records the morning briefing for members who cannot travel. Business attire is expected for Hill meetings, and members should bring government-issued photo ID for building security. Congressional office buildings do not offer coat check, so pack light for the walk between meetings.
