Mid-Atlantic Policy Briefing (September 2027)

Government-relations staff and general counsel who plan to attend the Fall Policy Forum in November should register for this briefing, held six weeks ahead at NANA's Washington conference center. Chapter Chair Marcus Idowu, chief operating officer at the Society of Accessible Design Professionals, opens the morning.

Emeka Nwosu-Hart, vice president of government relations at the Coalition of Family Farm Lenders and co-chair of the Mid-Atlantic government-relations working group, will walk attendees through the issues the Fall Policy Forum will take up in depth, so members arrive in November already familiar with the details rather than hearing them for the first time. The session runs as a preview and working discussion, not a substitute for the Forum itself.

Attendees will have a chance to raise questions or concerns with the working group ahead of November, giving the policy team time to fold member feedback into the Forum's agenda.

Nwosu-Hart will also cover which of the year's files carry a near-term deadline, so members can decide before November whether a given issue needs their association's attention now or can wait for the Forum's fuller briefing. Idowu said the September briefing exists specifically to surface files a member's own board should hear about before the comment period closes, rather than after.

Members who track a specific rule or bill through their own government-relations staff should bring the docket number or bill number so Nwosu-Hart can confirm whether the Fall Policy Forum will cover it directly or only in passing. Members without their own government-relations staff should bring a list of the regulatory changes they've heard about secondhand, so the working group can confirm which are worth tracking closely.

The conference center sits ten minutes from Reagan National by Metro. The briefing runs 9:00 a.m. to noon with coffee and pastries provided, free for chapter members.
