Rocky Mountain Summer Quarterly (2027)

Rocky Mountain chapter leaders and staff based in or near Salt Lake City should register for the chapter's July quarterly, held there as it is every year while the chapter's other three quarterlies meet in Denver. Chapter Chair Tobias Kren, who moved from Chicago to Denver in 2022, opens the day.

Hollis Greenleaf, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Outfitters and Guides Council, will speak on staffing a two-person association that uses the Southeast chapter's shared-services model to cover finance and events work it can't otherwise afford. Kren will check in on the chapter's relocation welcome series, the peer program for staff moving to Denver or Salt Lake City, and open the floor to attendees who have gone through it.

The day closes with a peer benchmarking session on chapter budgets, an opportunity for smaller Rocky Mountain member organizations to compare notes on shared-services arrangements ahead of the Southeast chapter's national rollout the following month.

Attendees weighing whether a shared finance manager or events coordinator makes sense for their own budget should bring a current staffing cost breakdown; Greenleaf's session works from real numbers rather than a hypothetical association, and the peer benchmarking exercise that closes the day compares actual chapter budgets side by side. Members considering a move to Denver or Salt Lake City are also encouraged to bring questions for the relocation welcome series, since Kren opens the floor to firsthand accounts from staff who have already made the move.

The meeting runs 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with breakfast and lunch included, free for chapter members. Any chapter member is welcome, regardless of which of the four annual meetings they can attend, and the Denver quarterlies remain the better option for members who can't make the summer trip to Salt Lake City.
