The fourth 2025 brief in the State of Associations Quarterly series turns to association management software: how many member organizations are actively evaluating or budgeting for a new AMS or member portal, and what's pushing them to look. NANA is running its own version of this project: an RFP issued in March 2025, Civic Ledger Software selected that June, and a build now underway toward a 2026 launch — a timeline this brief uses as a reference point.

The brief looks at what triggers a replacement search — end of vendor support, a merger of member data across chapters, or a board losing patience with a portal members complain about — and how long associations budget between deciding to replace a system and going live. It also looks at single sign-on rollout strategy: cutting every chapter over at once versus staging the migration.

Associations currently budgeting for their own AMS or portal replacement will find the clearest use for this brief in its vendor-evaluation questions, drawn from what NANA's digital team has learned so far.
